My partner and I have a lot of ideas. We are naturally “idea people” that are challenged with ADD and ADHD diagnoses. With those, the ideas come at a rapid pace and we dive deep into them until our eyes and brains bleed and then lose interest or focus, just as fast as the new ideas are flowing in.
I think we have had at least six or more business ideas since we found each other on that crazy dating app a couple years ago. (Shoutout to Her). Not only did we have these many, many ideas but we also shared them publicly with our family and friends via social media. At first the support and love was overwhelming. Then our passion for the business idea would fade out quickly and we would move on to the next one. As you can imagine with the chaotic turn over of business adventures, you can lose interest and support from others and now they are looking at us like we are crazy! I’m sure our followers, friends, and family are wondering if this will be another faded attempt at becoming small business owners, or if this will be the one that will stick.
This was constant until we finally found our niche!
Here we are six or seven business ideas later! I am stubbornly happy to report that it is the one that will stick! How do we know? Well let me tell you! It is four months later, (yes, four months is a long time for us) and we are still going strong! We have made some major accomplishments over these past few months. We have created a beautiful website complete with products to purchase. We applied and were approved for our LLC and EIN number and are working on our social media platforms almost daily. Our business is actually making sales (thank you baby Hey Zeus). We have been looking into grants for start-up funding and writing and re-writing our business plan!
Sounds like we got all our ducks-in-a-row, right? Nope. As soon as we do one of them darn ducks waddles off and we feel like we are back at the beginning! It’s constant research and second-guessing ourselves, fighting off the small business scammers, skipping meals, cursing at the computer (so much cursing), and learning how to operate a computer. There are so many emotional rollercoasters when it comes to starting your own business and then you actually have to run it!? Whaaaaat??????! It is a fight between wanting to be strong, successful, business women and wanting to take a nap.
We want to invite you to follow along with our fun small business adventures! Using our blogs and social media platforms, we can show you in real time what it's really like to start a business without any education in business management and our lovely ADHD and ADD moments, mixed with the topsy-turvey-ness (yes, that's a word now) of all the ups and downs that come with it! (And all the ducks).
If this is something that you would like to see more of check back on our website for our weekly blogs or follow along on our facebook page, instagram, or tiktok!
